Professor Duck's Countries and Capitals Quizzes (ver. 2.2)

Thank you for taking an interest in my not-so-little summer project for 1995! The reason I undertook this task was because after 3 years of teaching 8th grade geography I had had enough of grading countries and capitals quizzes. As I spent hours upon hours of valuable time grading these quizzes by hand I thought to myself: "This is a menial task that a machine could just as well be doing." Well, from now on machines will be grading my countries and capitals quizzes.
What I did was to divide the world into 16 different regions. Then I wrote a HyperCard stack for each of those regions. I also wrote a quiz stack covering basic global places (continents, oceans, and named lines of latitude and longitude). The stacks are designed to ask the students, in a random order, the names of the countries and capitals of the region. Then, when the student is finished, the computer tabulates the score. Some advantages of doing it this way are: 1) Students find out their scores immediately, and 2) I don't have to waste valuable time doing simple but time-consuming grading.
Professor Duck's Political Quiz Stacks require a color-capable Macintosh* computer with a 12" screen, and HyperCard* 2.3. Contact the author via e-mail for information on receiving stand-alone versions of the stacks that can run without HyperCard*.
The information on the maps is accurate as of the 1995 World Almanac and Book of Facts.

In order to register the stacks simply print, fill out, and send the registration form at the end of this "Read Me" file, along with your check, to the address indicated on the registration form.
